Job Description:

The Painter, Automotive Worker coats surfaces of motor vehicles such as automobiles, buses, and trucks with paint, lacquer, epoxy, resin or other material, using brushes, rollers, spray guns and other devices, removes old paint from vehicle, using liquid paint remover and scraper, smooths surface with sandpaper and steel wool. The Painter, Automotive Worker roughens aluminum surfaces with acid solution and steel wool to ensure that paint adheres to surface, masks and covers portions of surfaces not to be painted, paints vehicle or specified portion of vehicle and may paint insignia, letters or numerals on vehicle surface using stencils. Estimate time and materials required. Keep computerized records and submit reports of work performed. Able to use pneumatic tools and have knowledgeable of metal, aluminum and fiberglass preparation techniques in accordance to specifications. Paint match, tint, and tone and blend coating materials to meet level and thickness requirements. Comply with all personal protection requirements and able to wear full-face respirators. All work is accomplished IAW with the applicable Army regulations, DA PAMs, Technical Manuals, Technical Bulletins, and Repair Manuals.

Requirements:
The Painter, Automotive must have at least 24 months hands-on experience and excellent understanding of surface preparation and paint application. Knowledge of proper use and procedures to manage hazardous materials and hazardous waste products. Knowledge of the standard tools, equipment and materials. Must be a United States citizen or be authorized to work in the United States. Must pass pre-employment drug screening and a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) background investigation. Must pass a respirator physical test. May be required to work uncommon hours of duty, extended hours, nights, weekends and holidays. Must work as part of the team, independently and be attentive to detail. Skilled in effective oral and written communication to explain regulations, update policy and instructions, conduct investigations, provide program information to management and customers, and coordinate the day-to-day operations of the organization's operation. The employee chooses, interprets and adapts available guidelines (that often contain conflicting or ambiguous instructions) to specific assignments, and recommends changes to those policies. Candidate must be able to perform all the tasks not exclusive of those described in the job description section. Must be U.S. citizen and possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English proficiently and have the ability to clearly and concisely communicate both orally and in writing. Must be proficient in the use of computers and MS Office Software. Must be able to obtain a CAC and work the assigned shift hours. Must possess a valid state driver's license; may be required to be licensed to operate Government provided vehicle. This job description is meant to be a guide.
